Rehearsing for the Spring Concert
We have had a full week with Spring Concert Rehearsals, focusing on the vowel E, and finishing up details on our ABC Memory Book.
Letter of the week is Ee: we will continue working with the vowel e next week when we introduce the short e word families
*Poem of the week is Ellie Elephant
*Children listen for the /e/ sound in the beginning and middle of words
*Sight words: THEY and HER with a review on HERE and - children practice reading, spelling, and writing sight words in a sentence.
*Handwriting of the letter E. Capital E is big line down, little line, little line, little line. Lowercase e - hit the ball, run the bases.
*Children worked on finishing up their ABC Memory Books and wrote an author's page. Children needed to include the following information: full name, where they live, who they live with, and what they like to do in their spare time. As always, we focused doing our best writing.
*On Kid Pix, children created a book cover for their ABC Memory Book and typed their title and author name
* Children learned the parts of a letter and wrote a thank you letter to their Grandfriends. We will stamp and mail these letters by next week.
On Monday, two visitors from the Buzzard's Bay Coalition joined our class to share a few outdoor activities with the children. We began with a nice hike into the woods and then children participated in two activities.
The activities included:
Scavenger hunt - children searched for things of different sizes, textures, and colors and collected them with a partners
Meet a tree - children were blindfolded and led by their partner to a tree. They were to feel the tree and be aware of textures and things around the tree. Next, their friend would remove the blindfold and children tried to find the tree they had felt.
