Bill Harley brought many laughs, great songs, and engaging stories.
Last Week we celebrated our first November birthday of the year.
We baked cupcakes to celebrate. Happy 6th Birthday, Birthday Girl!
P is for Pajamas and Popcorn!
*Our Letter of the week was P.
*Children learned that P is a frog jump capital letter, and p is a dive down, descending letter.
*We listened for and listed words that begin and end with /p/.
*Children located the letter P in text and determined if it was at the beginning or an ending of the word.
*Illustrated and labeled words that began with the letter p. Children used their abc booklets to list P words.
*Weekend News - journal writing - children shared their weekend news at our morning meeting and then wrote about it during our center time.
*Children wrote about what they are thankful for in preparation for our All-School Meeting on December 2nd.
They completed the sentence - "I am thankful for......." Children are paying closer attention to the placement of letters in the provided space. We have discussed how we can tell if the letter is a capital letter, tall, descending, or small by its placement.
Ask your child to show you the hand signals for the small, tall, descending, and capital letters. When writing their I am Thankful children were attentive to the placement of letters on the model sentence. Children also spent time illustrating what they are thankful for.
Bill Harley and Authorfest
What a treat it was to meet Bill Harley. We thoroughly enjoyed his songs, stories, and guitar playing. He made us laugh and imagine. The children were captivated.
We visited the BookFair on Wednesday. Children created wish lists and did some shopping. It is always an exciting time of the year.
Kindergartners and third graders met together to decorate t-shirts for the Turkey Trot that will take place on Tuesday, November 24th.
They used fabric markers and drew a variety of turkeys, encouraging words, and numbers. They will wear their t-shirts over their clothes next Tuesday. Thank you to Diego's family for donating extra t-shirts. The Turkey Trot will take place next Tuesday at 1:30. Children will run a course that they have been training with in PE. Parents are welcome to attend and run or cheer the runners on. We hope you can join us.
